Greg Johnson is a perennial among New Zealand recording artists and songwriters.

Since his first breakthrough single “Isabelle” hit the charts and hearts of kiwis in the early 90’s he has produced 8 studio albums and toured New Zealand relentlessly, building a strong and loyal fan-base. His live shows are legendary for their musicianship, intimacy and humour and often new audience members are surprised how many of his songs they already know.

His Cocktail Club series of shows over the last few years have helped cement a reputation as raconteur and wine drinker which has made Johnson’s shows hugely popular at Art and Wine Festivals including recent Christchurch Wellington, Waiheke and Auckland events.

When not touring Johnson works from his recording studio in Los Angeles writing, co-writing and producing music for Artists, TV and Radio. He has had many songs in film and televison (see list below) In 2005 his tune “Save Yourself” hit the US radio charts and was followed by a period of extensive touring.

Greg is a past winner of the coveted APRA Silver Scroll (and 5 time finalist) as well as Tui winner for Best Compilation and Male Vocalist.

His new album “Secret Weapon” is his 9th studio recording and his first as a true independent. Produced by Johnson it features an eclectic line –up of musician friends from around the globe including old time members Ted Brown, Sid Jordan and Simon Petty as well as cameos by the famous lead guitarist Mark Goldenberg and Calcutta myspace pal Tajdar Junaid among others.

I love how the songs don’t go where you expect them to, throw me for a loop when I reach the chorus, and then an incredibly catchy chorus that after two spins is stuck in my head. It’s that Greg Johnson mind control again !!! Gary Heller CBS Radio Los Angeles 2010

Greg Johnson: Like most of this New Zealand singer/pianist's tunes, there's a slightly eerie subtext to an otherwise lovely performance, just enough to keep the listener guessing –- and coming back for more. - USA Today Brian Mansfield June 2007
