AUSTRALIAN TOUR MARCH 2019.
Greg returns to Australia for his first tour there in 15 years – partnering with Goldenhorse guitarist Ben King to present ‘Every Song Has A Story’ tour.
All venues are seated, with strictly limited capacity. Greg will delve into his songbook from across his entire career, 1990-2019 – picking from gems like ‘Isabelle’, ‘Liberty’, ‘Save Yourself’, ‘Now The Sun is Out’ and ‘Don’t Wait Another Day’ and so many more.
In essence, an unstoppable stream of songwriting classics, which have netted him New Zealand music awards, eight Top-20 albums and the coveted APRA Silver Scroll.Says Greg: “I can’t wait to head downunder in March and this time I’m really delighted to be including Australia as part of the tour. The duo approach with Ben is perfect for this career-retrospective of my songs and their supporting stories. We’ll play two sets and look forward to making a great night of it in each city, catching up with old friends and meeting new”.
The same tour was recently presented around New Zealand, of which the reviewers said:
“Greg Johnson says every song has a story and he proved exactly that with some surprises and revelations that enchanted and intrigued the audience at Auckland’s Galatos” David Boyle, Radio13.co.nz, October 2018.
“There’s an urbane unpretentiousness about it that makes his songs beautiful and affecting. It all seems so effortless and direct, the songs, the musicianship, the conversation. Toward the end of the gig, you just really get the feeling no one wants him to stop. Greg and Ben take their bows to long applause from the packed house. No one moves. Thankfully they come back for an encore.” Michael Hawksworth, The Hook, review of Hawkes Bay Arts Festival appearance, October 2018.
